What is Binomial ExpansionA binomial is an algebraic expression of the sum or difference of 2 terms (bi meaning 2 like bipolar, bisexual biannual etc). If you are asked to expand the binomial (2x - 3)^2 you can use the FOIL method which you learnt in Year 7. Even expanding the binomial (x + 7)^3 is quickly done using the FOIL method. But what do you do when you are asked to expand the binomial (4x - 2)^27? It will take ages to do it the old-fashioned way!! for these situation you can use the Binomial Theorem. In this part I will explain to you what the Binomial Theorem is and how to Expand Binomials of all powers. You will understand this maths topic at the end of this section by solving past paper questions about expanding binomials together with me. I will help you with your maths and explain to you step by step how to expand binomials. Before we start, what kind of triangle is shown in the picture? Did you ever hear of Pascal's triangle? Good luck and have fun! Mr John
